“It cannot be stated with certainty when Nicholas arrived in Virginia. But it is known that he was Clerk of the Surry County Court in 1652, and was Clerk of the Governor’s Council in 1655.”

When he was age 24, April 22, 1655-the clerk of Surry County, at which time he located “Southwarke”

Purchased Island House and 80 acres at Jamestown from Nathaniel Bacon and his wife, Elizabeth, 20Nov1656(copy of Deed)
