Note:
“Concerning the McTiers: Mary's father was William McTier and his parents were Robert McTier and Euphemia Wallace. As to William McTier's wife, nothing except the name Dewar. In regards to the Goddard family: John Goddard's father was Joseph Goddard (abt 1683 England - 1737 and his mother was named Mary (UNKNOWN). I am suspicious that Joseph may be the son of Joseph Goddard and Deborah Treadway. There is extensive information on this line, but I have no connection except a possible correlation with the birth year of our Joseph and their son Joseph.”
(from "DAR Magazine", March 1954, pg. 47
Dr. Henry Simpson Goddard wrote that Mary's father was a "French Protestant, martyred for his faith.")
