NOTE from Rod Bias, 4648 E. St. Catherine Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85040 13
Apr 1992:
Benjamin, Jr. first married Susannah Cutlip (my
great, great, great aunt) in 1807 in Gallia Co. They moved to Pike
Co. OH with her father George Cutlip about 1808. They moved to what
is now Pike Co. In 1808 it was PeePee Township (named for PeePee
Creek, named for Peter Patrick an early pioneer who carved his
initials on trees to "blaze a trail" for others to follow about
1785), Ross County in 1808. In 1815 PeePee and other southern
townships were divided off Ross to become Pike Co. So any mention
of Allisons between 1808 and 1815 would be in Ross County records --
from 1815 to 1821 in Pike County records. He didn't move, the
county did.
While in Ross/Pike County they had five (or more) kids:
(Ross Co.) John 1808
Samuel 1810
Jesse 1812
Sarah 1814 (m. Ruben Jackson Scranton 18Jan1838 IL)
(Pike Co.)
Nathan 8 May 1817
Susannah died about 1819/1820 (childbirth?)
Benjamin, Jr. then married Charlotte Adkins 20 Oct 1821 in Pike
Co OH
They had a daughter Polly (probably "Mary" Allison 9 Jan
1821/22 ? and afterward moved west to Pike County, IL. They may
have stopped briefly in Indiana.
Benjamin purchased 80 acres of land in Pike Co. Section 21 NENE 02W
Township 06S on 29 June 1835 for $1.25 per acre. RECORD #223840
Vol. Page No. 045 Federal Land Sale.

Benjamin was one of the pioneers of Pike County. He removed
from Ohio to Indiana in 1824, and to this county in 1834; in 1836 he
purchased the farm of Silas Wilson on sec. 8, Spring Creek township,
upon which was the only house in the township, and the Allison
family was the only one residing in the township, until a few months
later, when the Scranton family moved in. (Updated: Thu Oct 24 09:23:06 2002 Contact: Elizabeth Doremus edoremus@mtco.com)
