JOHN H. CLARK
John H. Clark was born in O. July 22, 1832. He was 17 years old when his father died. He worked on a farm near Centerville, for a man named Rufus Beeman (who afterward hanged himself) until he married Nancy Halley in 1852. They lived on Sand Fork, where he ran a store until 1884, when he moved to Effingham Co., Illinois. He moved to Sailor Springs, in Clay County, where he lived until the time of his death June 10, 1910. His wife died three years earlier and they both, and Melissa, lie buried in a cemetery one-half mile west of this village.
