John immigrated from Merionethshire Wales to Merion twp., Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania about 1687. He removed from Merion twp. to Montgomery twp. north of Gwynedd meeting in 1706 with his children.

There are only 29 names on the tax list for the township . Virtually all are Welsh names. Also in Montgomery township, in 1719, a David Williams is one of the 10 founding members of Montgomery Baptist Church. The John Williams family is Quaker.
